Trail systems in the north carefully segregate snowmobiles from skiers. Check out Duluth's Cross Town Trail or head north along the North Shore State Trail, which takes you 146 miles north to the wonderful little town of Grand Marais.
The Hermantown Night Riders maintain 59 further miles of trail in the Duluth area (and they're always looking for volunteers to help with trail maintenance).
A favorite pastime during the winter months in cold-weather states like Minnesota, ice fishing lets you enjoy the lake even when it’s completely frozen over. Grab a tent, your fishing pole, and spend a day on the ice.
